True Blood S4 Ep 12- Season Finale Ends Drenched in Blood

True Blood Season 4 Episode 12 And When I DieIt was so completely appropriate that the finale for this season is taking place during Bon Temps Halloween celebrations. There have been so many subplots leading to a bloody end at this point that you had to know there would be surprises, gore and plenty of dead bodies by the end of this season finale. And you wouldn’t be wrong.

Marnie the witch has proven herself to be every bit as evil as we thought, with this week’s gruesome killing of Jesus by stabbing him in the heart once he agrees to pass his powers on to her. Since she had already taken over Lafayette’s body, this just makes her an even more powerful and dangerous witch.

Of course, she had to at that point decide to seek revenge on Bill for his shooting and killing her at the standoff, and no one should have been surprised to later find both Bill and Eric bound to stakes and about to be set on fire by the witch.

Meanwhile, poor Tara and Sookie are looking forward to some normal fun at Merlotte’s, although Alcide declaring himself may have put a bit of a damper on things.

Especially for Alcide when Sookie says no. But the best part was when Tara decides to summon the dead to combat Marnie when Eric and Bill are found bound and threatened by her. The true Antonia and Sookie’s Gran are such welcome characters, it was great to have them back – and boy did they kick some ass!

Antonia was completely back in character when she finally tried to convince Marnie that everyone has their time and it was her time to leave. It just wasn’t going to happen, and I was delighted when Grannie grabs the witch and reaches down into Lafayette’s body to pull Marnie’s spirit out! Way to go Grannie!

But Nan’s threats and Bill and Erik’s response by killing her just seemed a little out of left field. I don’t know- did any of you see that one coming? I sure didn’t! And at the end, when Tara gets killed by Debbie over her mistaken belief that Sookie stole Alcide away from her – man that was just the heroic kind of thing that Tara would do, to step in front of the rifle fire so that Sookie doesn’t get shot. I have to say – I was just about in tears. I hate to admit it, but I was glad that Sookie shot Debbie’s head off. Who wouldn’t after that?

But wow- what a way to end the season! So much blood, so much violence and all of it pretty much had to happen because of all the events leading up to this. Still, Sookie has now officially sworn off of both Eric and Bill as well as having told Alcide no – so where will she go from now? We will just have to wait until next season to find out I guess!

True Blood S 4 Ep11 Sees Marnie Dead – Or is she?

True Blood Season 4 Episode 11The battle of the century is happening at the Olde Magic Shoppe! Flamethrowers and all kinds of weapons of mass destruction are there when Eric, Bill, Pam and Jessica arrive like the cavalry to put a final end to the witches.

Inside, things are pretty chaotic as the other witches want out, with Casey confronting Marnie. Bad idea girl, as Marnie takes care of that problem by stabbing Casey in the chest. Somehow Lafayette can see Marnie and Antonia having it out when no else can, so he fills in Jesus and Sookie. Antonia tries to leave Marnie, but no good. Marnie is just too strong a witch and it appears she always gets what she wants.

So where does this leave our crew outside? Well Jason shows up to stop the attack because unknown to Bill and company, Sookie is inside and vulnerable. While they argue about what to do – a couple of bewitched vamps attack, get killed, and things move on. Big yawn on that sequence –when is something going to actually happen?

Meanwhile inside, Lafayette and Jesus are plotting to use Casey’s dead body to lure Antonia out while Holly and Sookie try to talk Marnie into ending the standoff in peace. Fat chance! But Bill’s taunts, he calls her a coward, get to Marnie and she and Bill battle it out. Forcefields on and sunglasses for everyone!

Lafayette and Jesus continue with the magic, Marnie casts a spell in a pool of blood and sees her future, sees herself dead- shot in the head. That’s it- everyone make a circle (and what? Sing kumbaya?) But it turns out this circle forms some kind of forcefield, the vamps are getting sucked into it and just when everything looks bad for our heroes – Sookie saves the day! Yay- who knew she could pull those fairy powers out whenever things got bad! She can’t? Well coulda fooled me – ‘cause it sure looks like that is what she did here! Again!

The forcefield breaks, Bill and company rush inside and wam! Before you know it Eric is eviscerating some fool who tries to protect Marnie and then Bill lifts up a gun and shoots Marnie in the head, just like she saw in her magic pool of blood earlier.

But, of course, this being True Blood we get a fun glimpse at the end that tells us Marnie may not be gone – not quite.

Meanwhile, Alcide and Sam are trying to track Marcus down, and they do find him eventually at Alcide’s home, with Debbie (who appears to walk around in panties like it is everyday wear). Sam and Marcus fight, Marcus gets killed and Alcide has had enough of Debbie and tells her so. Very clearly.

In a very weird little scene that I am sure is leading to something next season, Andy meets and makes love to a beautiful fairy creature, when he vows to her that he will protect her. He seems pretty proud of this, and goes home to tell Arlene. I don’t know about you, but that wouldn’t be my reaction to something like this.

And finally – we see Jesus and Lafayette in bed together, giving each other comfort. I love these two! Just as it seems like a sweet closing scene, after all the mayham and violence in this episode, we see Marnie’s spirit, hovering above Lafayette. You know – the dude that seems to get possessed all too easily. This is not a good sign. Crap! We get to see where all this leads next week – in the finale for the season.

True Blood S4 Ep10 Builds in Witch Vamp Battle

True Blood Season 4 Episode 10 It sure seems like everyone is getting jumped this episode starting with Tommy getting it from a pack of weres and then Sookie is jumped by Bill and Erik, but that one is just a dream. But then the really big jump on happens when Martonia and her pack of bewitched vampires show up at the Festival of Tolerance (how ironic!) and get a real jump on Bill.

Pretty soon is it chaos as Martonia tells Erik to kill Bill, Nan attacks cameras, Sookie attacks everyone trying to get to Erik and stop him and Bill pulls out a gun filled with magic bullets and starts spraying every vamp he sees. Nan is staking a vamp with a pencil (what??) and soon we see Erik over Bill, stake in hand! Lucky for Bill, Sookie pulls out some magic fairy power and uses her power balls to break the spell. For a non powerful gal, that Sookie can really zap them! Everyone starts coming back to their senses, which is when we leave this scene.

We see that Jason and Jessica have just done the dirty deed, and Jason is feeling kinda guilty. Not Jessica, the only thing on her mind is finding someone to eat. Nice girl you got there Jason!

Meanwhile Alcide is desperately trying to get a dying Tommy to some help. Tommy wants to die at Merlotte’s so that is where they go, and Sam is there. They lay Tommy out on the pool table and everyone says their goodbyes. Somewhere in here Sam has forgotten how much he hates Tommy, but with Tommy dead it hardly seems relevant anymore.

We make a quick move to Marcus, who is sharing a joint and maybe hoping to share more with Debbie. She complains about Alcide, and surprise Marcus makes his move. He starts telling her how she should find herself a wolf who wants the things she wants, namely him. He doesn’t know that Alcide and Sam are looking for him and are just one stop behind. We see them at the Bike Shop, being up close and aggressively physical with a guy there.

Just as we get comfy watching that blood splatter, we get whiplash from being zoomed back to the Old Magical Shoppe.

In it, Holly and Tara are trapped and trying to find a way to get away from Martonia, who is having internal arguments between Marnia and Antonia about what they should be doing next. Pretty funny, when you really think about it – but I guess this is true split personality!

Erick tells Sookie nothing has changed, he still loves her, but Sookie is now the one with doubts. She knows Bill is going to the Old Magic Shoppe to take out Marnie, but tries to talk him out of it because Tara is there. But Bill will have nothing to do with it – Marnie is too dangerous to let her stick around for the sake of one friend. Kinda cold blooded, don’t you think? He tells Sookie to stay put – but really who is he kidding? He knows she never listens to him, so why does he even bother?

Bill leaves and Jason comes over to Sookie’s house, to talk about how upset he is about Hoyt. She tells him about Bill’s plan and her fears for Tara and so they both go off to find Jesus and Lafayette to help them get Tara out from Marnie’s clutches. This does not look good!

Sure enough, before we know it Sookie, Lafayette and Jesus are all there with Tara and under the power of Marnie. Marnie and Antonia are still arguing between themselves about Marnie’s plan to get rid of all vamps, and finally Antonia is convinced she will go along with Marnie’s plans.

Meanwhile, Andy and Arlene and Terry are having an argument about V. Andy and Terry have a big fight, fistfight at that, and the truth of Andy feeling inferior to Terry comes out. Finally Andy admits he is afraid he has become addicted to V.

Back at the Olde Magic Shoppe things are coming to a head. Marnie has Sookie, Holly and Tara trapped, Jesus is there but unable to help and it looks like the vamps are getting suited up to go out and kill them some witches. Next week looks like it will be Showdown at the OK Corral, True Blood style!

Has Erik Given in to the Dark Side?

Well he is our fave on the show, even when he has his shirt on. But I thought I could count on Erik remaining the guy who knew what side he needs to be on. Well, probably that would be whatever side Sookie is on, but there was always something kinda innocent about him. Even if you do take into account what he is.

But this last episode left me wondering. Has Erik finally made the move and decided to go to that Dark Circle that seems to be all around him on this show? True- he has been known to rip the occasional have of a witch or two, and don’t get him around the wrong werewolves. But on the whole, the guy has always been the force for the right thing. You could count on him. Until now.

Perhaps this is just his true old bad self coming back again. Come to think of it, in the earlier episodes he was a tad more ruthless. Maybe it is time to bring that Erik back.

Just as long as he takes the shirt off now and again!

Three Way Has to Be Resolved

One of the things I think is so great about True Blood has been the way that these love triangles just keep popping up in the storylines. It isn’t that surprising, it makes for great stories. Although the Bill-Sookie-Erik three-way craziness has definitely been the top triangle, I am finding that the Jason-Jessica-Hoyt situation is in some ways even more interesting.

Think about it for a minute or two. When the threesome includes two humans and a vampire, things are bound to get pretty interesting. The fact that in the last episode or two we have seen Jessica turned down by both of her lovers just means that something is going to happen – something big!

We all know that Jason can’t really turn away from Jessica. After all, if he has some of her blood in him, then she has to be calling to him. Even if he wanted to walk away, he can’t. So what does that leave?

I say – something big and bold is coming our way soon. I can’t wait to see what it can be!
